Rosengrens DC Computer Data Cabinets

A SAFE WITHIN A SAFE
Each safe within the Rosengrens data safe range really consists of two safes – an outer and inner. A “labyrinth” seal between the safes acts as a barrier against conductive heat. The safes also have double doors, one external, one internal. This ensures that the contents of the safe will remain cool and dry regardless of outside circumstances.

The walls are built up of several different materials, including lightweight concrete, polyurethane foam and a special heat absorbent compound which melts when the temperature inside the safe begins to approach critical levels. When the compound melts, it absorbs thermal energy thus keeping the temperature inside the safe from rising.

Extra reinforcement, which absorbs mechanical stresses, is provided at the top and bottom and around the corners. Together with the impact-absorbing base at the bottom, this reinforcement means that the safe can with-stand falls from considerable heights – for example from the top floor through each level down to the basement in the case of a major fire.

The front part of the base can easily be dismantled. Inside are recesses for a pallet lifter. This minor detail, could become important when the safe is to be installed should it be moved or transferred.

THE DOOR LOCKS THE DOOR
The door is often a weak point in many fireproof safes. Special materials and designs are required to prevent heat from penetrating a door when the temperature on the outside approaches 1000°C. The door must, after all, not only provide protection against heat, moisture and gas, but also be simple and convenient to open and close.

That is why the Rosengren series of safes has been given a different and extra tight design around the door. The doors are sealed by means of a solid sealing lip which runs along the entire lock side of the door. The lip is manipulated by means of the safe handle which acts as a powerful lever. The door is thus very easy to open and close.

The external door is sealed with labyrinth seals, the inner of which is provided with a special rubber strip. The hinges are surface-mounted to provide the smoothest operation but are concealed for the sake of neatness.

Since a data safe must fit into every type of environment, from ordinary offices to large DP centres the function, design and size must be balanced to suit each user. That is why we have manufactured four data safe models.

The smallest safe is primarily intended for floppy disk storage in office environments while the larger models are more suitable for large-scale facilities and DP centres. All of the safes are, however, designed to store every type of data media.

Thanks to the numerous fitting options, each safe can easily be adapted to suit a particular need.

You can easily change the fittings if you change data media.

DC5 with VDMA S6ODIS

  • For safe storage of Floppy Disks within an office environment.
  • Rapid advances in the field of computer technology have placed increasing demands on the handling and storage of data media. Information stored on floppy disks or magnetic tape is often of vital importance to the active operation of a company.
  • It is often not realized how sensitive computer media can be to outside influences, whether heat or humidity. Intensive sunlight, for instance, can render a disk unusable!
  • Therefore the safe storage of data media is of major concern to any company which uses—or relies on—a computer. The loss of media containing important operating information, through whatever reason, can cause great hindrance to the effective operation of a company and, if data is permanently lost, irreparable harm.
  • The DC 5 is specially designed for the storage of diskettes and disk cartridges. Thanks to its elegant design, this cabinet fits in well in all types of office computer environments, whether modern or traditional style.
  • The cabinet is finished in ivory lacquer with a decorative vertical stripe in blue on the door. The full-length door hinge is on the right side of the door.
  •
  • The keylock is countersunk into the handle. Thanks to its low height, the cabinet can be placed under a terminal stand, for example. Due to its sturdy construction the cabinet passed the fire/droptest without a base. But the cabinet may also be placed on a 300 mm (12 in) base to bring it up to a comfortable working height.
  • The interior fittings are finished in blue lacquer and can be rearranged without the use of any tools.
  • Interior fittings will depend on the type of media to be stored e.g.
    • wire baskets for the storage of 3″, 5 1/4″ or 8″ diskettes;
    • fixed or sliding shelf for the storage of diskettes in boxes;
    • sliding rack for the storage of disk cartridges.
  • As is the case with all Rosengrens Computer Firesafe Cabinets, the DC 5 has been tested according to the stringent requirements of the German Braunschweig Institute. This is an independent fire/drop test and accepted world wide for quality. The DC 5 has received the VDMA S 60 DIS Certificate from the institute which means that it has been approved to store diskettes, the most sensitive magnetic medium on the market.

  • For mediumsized computer installations
  • Rapid advances in the field of computer technology have placed increasing demands on the handling and storage of data media. Information stored on floppy disks or magnetic tape is often of vital importance to the active operation of a company.
  • It is often not realized how sensitive computer media can be to outside influences, whether heat or humidity. Intensive sunlight, for instance, can render a disk unusable!
  • Therefor the safe storage of data media is of major concern to any company which uses — or relies on — a computer. The loss of media containing important operating information, through whatever reason, can cause great hindrance to the effective operation of a company and, if data is permanently lost, irreparable harm.
  • DC 40 is the second biggest cabinet in Rosengrens range of Firesafe Computer Cabinets. It is mainly designed for mediumsized installations but as it has been tested to the new and most stringent German Standards for floppy disks (VDMA 24991) permitting a temperature inside the cabinet of not more than 55°C it is also most suitable for the sensitive floppy disks.
  • Thanks to elegant design, the DC 40 blends well with a modern office environment as well as in computer halls. The cabinet is ivory white in a lacquer finish with a decorative vertical stripe in blue, brown or silver. The handle is a natural anodized, silver tone, aluminium and the hinges are concealed.
  • The whole is supported on a 160 mm high removable base, designed to permit handling by a fork-lift.
  • The DC 40 is supplied, as standard, with door hinges to the right (option: left) and is equipped with a Rosengrens change-able ABN keylock. It can optionally be fitted with an additional ABN changeable keylock or with an S&G manipulation proof combination lock; or with one of each.
  • Thanks to the high-security locks being used and also a special drill resistant plate beneath the locking area an improved protection against unauthorized access is being ensured.
  • The interior fittings — finished in blue lacquer — are flexible in that they can be adapted to the individual needs of any installation. They are easily rearranged.
  • Finally DC 40 has the 1 hour label: VDMA S60 DIS which refers to the internationally recognized German Braunschweig test for floppy disks.
