CHATWOOD-MILNER DUPLEXTRA MK3
The new Chatwood-Milner Mk 3 `Duplextra’ Safes express the most advanced thought on protection against the burglar. Backed by over 150 years experience in design and manufacture, these safes provide for the years ahead and will continue to defy the ever increasing resources of the modern cracksman. Features of the construction are the surrounding of the body of the safe with the latest type of Chatwood-Milner armour cast in a one piece unit, the great thickness of the door incorporating the latest anti-arc material and the improved locking mechanism and boltwork. Searching and drastic tests have been imposed on this new type of safe and have proved its greater resistance to all forms of scientific attack.
The total metal thickness of the body of the safe is 2 11/16,” (68 mm). The outer steel body is formed as a single unit using the most modern welding and bending methods and encloses the 2″ (51 mm) thick Chatwood-Milner blowpipe and drill-resisting armour cast in a monolithic unit giving maximum strength at all points.
The total thickness of the door is 7 1/2 (190 mm), and incorporates 2″ (51 mm) of the latest Chatwood-Milner anti-arc and drill-resisting armour between outer and inner steel plates continuously welded to form a single unit with a solid metal thickness of 3″ (76 mm). The fire-resisting chamber at the back is hinged and fastened with screws (if combination locks are fitted the chamber is secured by two keylocks with keys in duplicate).
The door is securely held in its seating by steel sliding bolts 1 1/2″ (38 mm) diameter, all fully protected by the armour of the body when the door is closed. The number of bolts varies from six to sixteen according to the sizes of the safes.
The sliding bolts are controlled by Chatwood-Milner exclusive double bitted ten lever keylocks with rustless keys in duplicate. Various alternative locking arrangements can be supplied at additional cost if required, e.g. one or two Chatwood-Milner 4-wheel combination locks in addition to the keylock, two combination locks or two keylocks. Combination Locks can be fitted with anti-observation shields and check locks. The lockcase forms an integral part of the door and the boltwork is of new design incorporating main and secondary locking.
Operating independently of other locking, Chatwood-Milner dual movement Time Locks can be fitted. The use of a time lock prevents the safe from being opened until a predetermined hour even though the other locks may have been unlocked.
Anti-Explosives and Re-locking Device
This is fitted to provide protection in the event of the normal locking control being disturbed by explosives or other means and conies into operation automatically every time the safe is locked.
The steel shelves and drawer units are adjustable at 1 1/16″ (27 mm) intervals. The shelves are made of sheet steel flanged and reinforced the fronts of the shelves have a depth of 21/32″ (17 mm). Suggested arrangements of shelves are as follows: Models DW and EW one shelf, Models FW, GW/33 and GW/29 two shelves. Models DW, EW and FW can be fitted with either full (single) or half width (double) drawer units, Models GW/33 and GW/29 with half width drawers. The drawers have reinforced fronts and are fitted with recessed handles and Chatwood-Milner 4 lever locks with keys in duplicate.
Cupboard units of sheet steel with keys in duplicate can be supplied if required.
The external height of the cupboard can be made to meet any special requirements. Standard sizes are normally of internal heights of 12″ (305 mm) and 15″ (381 mm). The overall width of all cupboards is 1″ (25 mm) less than the internal width of the safes in which they are fitted.
The safes are painted inside and outside with the highest quality smoke grey enamel, the door being finished in a lighter shade of grey. All furniture is heavily chromium plated. Locks, pull and bolt actuating handles are backed with a black vinyl chloride polymer sheet to contrast with the colours of the safes. Safes can be finished in other colours and fitted with any standard colour of P.V.C. Sheet at extra cost to meet special requirements.
