“NEW SECURITY” BURGLAR AND FIRE-RESISTING SAFES
No other safes can compare with John Tann’s “New Security” Safes for enormous protection a low expenditure. For the safe-keeping of cash and valuable property in shops, private houses and other establishments they are ideal.
John Tann’s “New Security” Safes resist attack by all forms of mechanical drilling, cutting and fracturing tools, and they are provided with a light form of the unique JOHN TANN ANTI-BLOWPIPE AND ANTI-EXPLOSIVE DEVICES, which hold the door secure even if the lock is entirely destroyed or removed by the oxy-acetylene blowpipe or by high explosives.
These safes are provided with a light form of JOHN TANN’S ANTI-BLOWPIPE AND ANTI-EXPLOSIVE DEVICES (which hold the door secure even if the lock is entirely destroyed or removed by the oxy-acetylene blowpipe or by high explosives). When desired, the locks of these safes can, without additional cost, be so constructed that the keys cannot be removed unless the bolts are locked. Keyless combination locks can, if desired, be fitted in place of, or in addition to, the keylocks.
DOOR
Thickness over lockwork 1 3/8 in. Thickness over other vital parts 1 1/8 in. Constructed of Siemens Martin tough steel and drill-proof and unbreakable compound steel over the whole area, with extra thickness of drill-proof and unbreakable steel over the lock. Compound drill-proof and unbreakable stranded-steel rivets are used in the construction of the door, riveted under a hydraulic pressure of 30 tons to each rivet. Lock-chamber constructed of solid steel angle-bars.
LOCK AND BOLTWORK
The door is secured by 1 1/2 in. dia. round bright-drawn steel bolts at the back and 1 1/2 in. dia. round bright-drawn steel sliding bolts at the front, which pass through the solid-flange lock-chamber into bolt-holes in the solid frame of body, and are protected by drill-proof and unbreakable compound steel plate. The boltwork is controlled by John Tann’s patent unpickable 10-lever lock (with stainless-steel keys in duplicate). The lock and bolt mechanism is so arranged that if blows or pressure could be brought to bear on the sliding bolts no strain would come upon the lock but would be transmitted to the solid angle lock-chamber.
BODY
The whole area of body and back is protected by drill-proof and unbreakable steel, with a minimum total thickness in any part of 1/2 in. of steel. The outer body and the inner body, though incorporated into one infrangible unit, are each of strong, burglar-resisting construction and form two powerful lines of defence. The outer body is of Siemens Martin tough steel plate 1/4 in. thick bent at all twelve corners and welded into one complete and jointless member; it is reinforced at all edges and corners by saw-proof, drill-proof and unbreakable steel and the front is strengthened by a solid welded steel frame.
The inner body is constructed of drill-proof and unbreakable compound steel 1/4 in. thick, extending also over the ends of the sliding bright-drawn steel bolts so that the safe is protected on all sides and over the whole area of the door against attack by any form of mechanical drilling, cutting and fracturing tool.
FIRE-RESISTING CHAMBERS
The space between the inner and outer bodies is filled with John Tann’s patent moisture-generating, non-conducting fire-resisting composition, the finest known to science, forming chambers of a total thickness of 3 in. to 4 in. (See John Tann’s monograph ” Scientific Protection against Loss by Fire” for description and particulars of tests.)
FITTINGS
The steel drawers and cupboards are secured by strong 6-lever locks (with stainless-steel keys in duplicate), and all shelves, cupboards and drawers are strongly constructed of heavy steel plate. Special fittings can be supplied if required.
FURNITURE AND FINISH
The safe-handles, drawer?handles, keyhole etc. a re heavily chromium?plated. Painted with three coats, enamelled and varnished in a handsome modern finish. (Safes can be painted in selected colours if desired.)
